BRIEF: Vision aids donated to S-W library

Aug 19, 2012 (Skagit Valley Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Sedro-Woolley Public Library recently received some aids to assist lowvision library patrons when reading books and papers or watching videos.

Sedro-Woolley resident Mary Hart, in cooperation with the Sedro-Woolley Lions Club, recently presented Librarian Debra Peterson with an enhanced vision reader to benefit the library's patrons.

Three handheld magnifiers were also donated. They can be used by people with diminished vision to enlarge the print on the library's video screens.

Th e e q u i p m e n t w a s donated in memory of Mary's late husband Lester Hart, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran. "Lester will be smiling when he sees that his equipment is being used by members of the community," Mary Hart said.

Sight and Hearing Chairman Lynn Torset said the Lions Club was pleased to help Mary find an appropriate place for Lester's vision equipment. Torset invites anyone with spare glasses, hearing aids or other hearing or vision assistance products to donate them at collection boxes in Sedro-Woolley businesses.

He can be reached at 360-856-2410 for information.
