Verizon adds BBC AMERICA HD channel to its FiOS TV line-upAug 17, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Provider of broadband and other wireless and wireline communications services Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ)(Nasdaq:VZ) announced on Thursday the availability of the BBC AMERICA channel in high definition on FiOS TV on Channel 689. Verizon's FiOS TV is a 100% fibre-optic network which delivers programming direct to the home. Found on Channel 689, BBC AMERICA HD is available in FiOS TV's Extreme HD and Ultimate HD packages. BBC AMERICA is already available in standard definition on FiOS TV Channel 189. Verizon also plans to add BBC AMERICA HD to its FiOS TV Video on Demand offering soon. The HD launch on FiOS TV comes just in time for the start of BBC AMERICA's newest series, 'COPPER'. The channel also offers the hit series 'Doctor Who,' 'Top Gear' and 'Luther'. BBC AMERICA HD joins FiOS TV's broad collection of programming, which currently offers over 560 all-digital channels, including more than 145 HD channels, and 35,000 monthly video-on-demand titles.
