Record number of degree ceremonies at university ; In Brief [Hull Daily Mail (England)]

(Hull Daily Mail (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HULL: The University of Hull will hold its summer graduation ceremonies next week.

About 4,350 students will graduate in a record 11 ceremonies.

Among this year's graduates are more than 900 students from outside the EU, 1,700 mature students and more than 400 getting postgraduate qualifications.

The university will also present honorary doctorates to leading figures from such diverse fields as acting, economics, environmental science and law.

The honorands this year include journalist Selina Scott, interim director of the London School of Economics Judith Rees CBE, professor of medicine and physician Parveen Kumar and liquid crystals scientist Peter Raynes.

Vice-chancellor Calie Pistorius said: "Our degree ceremonies are the highlight of the university calendar, where our students are recognised for their outstanding hard work and achievements and leave us equipped to develop their chosen careers.
