Man sought in White Hall, Madonna convenience store robberiesApr 12, 2012 (The Aegis - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Police in Harford County are investigating the robberies Tuesday of two convenience stores less than 3 miles from each other in the northwestern part of the county. Police believe the two robberies -- one at 1 p.m., the other around 9 p.m. -- are connected, though in the earlier robbery the man implied he had a weapon and didn't in the later incident. "We believe these two may be connected," Worrell, of the sheriff's office, said. "The closeness in proximity between the locations, the similarities in the suspect's behavior at the crime scene, the witnesses' descriptions of the suspect and the photos and video images captured indicate that the suspect in both robberies may be the same person." The first holdup occurred around 1 p.m. Tuesday at the High's store in the 4500 block of Norrisville Road in White Hall, according to Harford County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Monica Worrell. Worrell said a white man approached the clerk, asked for cigarettes and then demanded money, implying he had a weapon. The man then left with an undisclosed amount of cash, Worrell said. No one was injured in the robbery. The robber is described as between 25 and 30 years old, approximately 6 feet, 2 inches tall, unshaven with a thin build. Greg MacGillivary, 410-836-5003. The second robbery occurred at another High's, this one in the Madonna area, Tuesday night. Maryland State Police troopers responded to the High's in the 4100 block of Norrisville Road at 9:13 p.m. for a report of a robbery, according to a state police news release. During the incident, the robber, a white man, gave the 22-year-old male clerk a note demanding cash. The clerk, a Bel Air resident, was not injured. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber walked out of the store, according to the news release. Troopers and Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies were not able to find the man after searching the surrounding area. Witnesses told police they had seen the man standing in the parking lot north of the High's before the robbery, according to the news release. The robber is described as being between 25 and 30 years old, with "scruffy" facial hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black wool hat and heavy black jacket.
