Zebra Technologies Announces New Relationship with Panasonic to Provide E- Citation Solution to Public Safety Organizations

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. --(Business Wire)--

Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a recognized global leader in technologies that extend real-time visibility into operations, today announced a new relationship with Panasonic (News - Alert). The relationship combines Zebra's versatile RW™ Series of mobile printers with Panasonic Toughbook® mobile computers into a solution that helps public safety organizations streamline the issuing and tracking of citations.

"In North America, more public safety departments are turning to electronic citation applications because they reduce the time officers spend writing tickets and increase time spent on patrol," said Tom Sheahen, vice president, channel distribution sales for Zebra Technologies. "We are excited to collaborate with Panasonic to offer this technological innovation within the public safety sector."

Law enforcement agencies issue millions of traffic and infraction citations every year. Electronic citations (e-citations), a mobile ticketing solution in which a field officer generates tickets by using a tablet or handheld computer and a mobile printer onsite, help public safety agencies better allocate resources. By replacing the manual process of writing tickets by hand with an e-citation solution, it allows field officers to issue more tickets in less time, which helps them to focus on patrolling and protecting the public. Also, all citation information is entered into the mobile computer, eliminating the need to deliver paper copies to local court offices or for multiple data entry. Additionally, e-citations considerably diminish the amount of time an officer is out of the vehicle and exposed to passing traffic, thereby increasing safety.

"Thousands of public safety organizations rely on our suite of Toughbook® mobile computers in the field to complete their mission critical day-to-day tasks," said Scott French, vice president of public sector sales for Panasonic. "Our partnership with Zebra provides an end to end solution for processes sch as e-citation that leads to greater departmental efficiencies, officer safety and focus on their core mission of protecting the public."

The relationship allows Panasonic to sell Zebra printers within its existing line of distribution channels and partners in North America. The solution includes the Panasonic Toughbook mobile computers coupled with the Zebra RW™ 220 and RW™ 420 mobile printers and related accessories, to allow maximum portability while maintaining quality and resilience when in the field. The lightweight design of the RW Series creates ease of use for the operator, ensuring legible citations are generated regardless of location or environmental conditions.
