ACMA eyes piracy claims


Apr 01, 2012 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- There are allegations that NDS, a unit of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, has engaged in pay television piracy. The Australian Communications & Media Authority has indicated it is aware of the claims, and is monitoring them in regard to the appropriate behaviour of media licence owners. News Corporation unit News Limited owns 20 per cent of pay TV operator Foxtel's licence. Under its agreement with majority owner Telstra, News is able to select Foxtel's CEO.
