Vidyo First to Demonstrate Telepresence Quality Video Conferencing on New iPad with 3 Mega Pixel Data Collaboration
HACKENSACK, N.J. --(Business Wire)--
Vidyo,
Inc., demonstrated today telepresence grade, low-latency, multipoint
video conferencing with 3 mega pixel content sharing on Apple's (News - Alert) new
iPad. The demonstration over a 4G LTE network connection expands access
to high definition videoconferencing, showing participants joining a
conference from a variety of endpoints. This is the latest in a
succession of Vidyo (News - Alert) industry firsts, which includes being the first
company to demonstrate HD quality, low-latency videoconferencing on the iPad
2 and on the iPhone
4S over every day mobile, work and home networks. VidyoMobile™ is
further enhanced by the latest iPad's new Retina™ display, delivering
incomparable data sharing, enhancing the user experience on Apple's
newly unveiled tablet. VidyoMobile for the new iPad is available via the
Apple App Store. To see a video demo of VidyoMobile's amazing quality on

With Vidyo's award-winning VidyoMobile solution, enterprise customers
are able to offer high-quality videoconferencing access to their growing
mobile workforce. As 4G LTE networks and devices become more widely
used, Vidyo's technology allows users to seamlessly join HD Vidyo
conferences with superior quality from the new iPad, and participate in
conferences with a wide variety of endpoints including other smartphones
and tablets, laptops, desktops, telepresence and HD room systems.
Connecting over 4G LTE networks means no longer having to be tied to a
room to experience telepresence quality conferencing. VidyoMobile gives
you true flexibility to universally connect from anywhere. Vidyo will be
demonstrating the app running on the new iPad at Enterprise Connect (News - Alert) in
Orlando, Booth #631, from March 26 to March 28.
"VidyoMobile on the new iPad provides a highly compelling user
experience for the enterprise video conferencing customer," said Ofer
Shapiro, CEO and co-founder of Vidyo. "The 2047 x 1536 pixel display
allows us to provide a level of HD videoconferencingresolution never
before seen on a tablet device, including 3 mega pixel application
sharing capability, allowing Vidyo to unlock and expand new applications
and usage models. The next generation iPad has the potential to open new
doors and ubiquitous video conferencing adoption among enterprise
customers who will expect a level of reliability and quality which can
only be delivered through Vidyo's unique architecture. It becomes
increasingly difficult to justify investment in expensive purpose built
devices when you can get higher performance and better user experiences
on devices that people already have and use in normal course of
workflow."
The new iPad's 3MP Retina display leverages VidyoMobile's data sharing
feature, offering greater detail in content collaboration for vertical
market applications like healthcare,
government, education and manufacturing. Several Vidyo customers already
use content sharing to enhance collaboration, for example, schools
conduct virtual
learning sessions using iPads, geographically dispersed
manufacturing organizations enhance
productivity by collaborating globally, and construction companies
sharing blue prints to expedite decision making on remote projects
without requiring expensive travel.
"VidyoMobile on the iPad provides physicians at Miami Children's
Hospital with a critical tool for treating patients as well as for
clinical decision-making with other physicians," said Ed Martinez, CIO
at Miami Children's Hospital. "The superb clarity of VidyoMobile on the
iPad allows real-time collaboration. The new iPad's increased screen
resolution has the potential to enhance the ability of our physicians to
diagnose and treat patients from wherever they are, not just in their
offices or within the hospital boundaries."
Like all Vidyo endpoints, VidyoMobile can join conferences with more
than 100 other participants, with the unique ability to pinch to zoom
and individually select the participants would like to view.
The Vidyo Difference
The Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based,
highly flexible and can be easily customized for individual enterprise
and vertical market video conferencing needs. The VidyoRouter™
is based on the company's patented Adaptive
Video Layering™ architecture and leverages H.264 Scalable Video
Coding (SVC)-based technology. It eliminates the MCU and offers
unprecedented error resiliency, low latency and rate matching enabling
natural, affordable, high quality video to work over the Internet, LTE,
3G and 4G networks. The Vidyo platform allows users to quickly leverage
the latest hardware innovations and new consumer devices, making it
uniquely attractive to partners. Vidyo has been active driving H.264 SVC
and SIP videoconferencing interoperability in various standards bodies
since 2005.
