AllClear ID Partners with Retailers and Cyber Security Experts to Alert Consumers when Identity Thieves Have Access to their Bank Accounts, Credit Cards and Social Security Numbers

AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Today AllClear ID, the leader in identity theft protection, announced a partnership with the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA).

The NCFTA has numerous member organizations, including law enforcement, private sector companies and researchers, working together to protect companies from cybercrime and fraud. Now, through AllClear ID, consumers will be securely alerted when their private information is discovered. AllClear ID's new integration offers consumers early warning when their personal information is reported stolen along with assistance on how to protect themselves. This is the first time consumers will have direct access to this information and the service is free for consumers.

From stolen bank account usernames and passwords, to credit cards and Social Security numbers, millions of seemingly-private identity credentials are stolen and exposed publicly each year. Cyber security experts regularly discover caches of consumer data in the course of pursuing cyber criminals. In 2011, 44% of the stolen information discovered included user names and passwords, while 22% of the data contained stolen credit card numbers. "Our partnership with AllClear ID will assist our core mission of identifying and mitigating cybercrime and Internet fraud," said Ron Plesco, CEO of NCFTA.

The fraud detection service and secure alerts throughAllClear ID includes:

  • Support from teams of top security researchers who find and report stolen consumer data to AllClear ID
  • Advanced Internet scanning finds and reports additional compromised personal data
  • Contact from AllClear ID in the form of a secure phone call or iPhone (News - Alert) application alert when compromised personal data is discovered
  • Support from the AllClear Investigation Team if identity fraud is suspected. The AllClear Investigation Team will work with individuals to help restore their identities

"AllClear ID is committed to helping consumers stop and fix identity theft," said Bo Holland, Founder and CEO of AllClear ID. "This free service alerts consumers immediately when their personal information is reported stolen so they can take action to protect themselves."

Consumers can register for the free service online at www.AllClearID.com or download the new AllClear ID iPhone application from the Apple (News - Alert) App Store. The mobile application also includes a comprehensive protection guide containing the most powerful free identity protections available.

About the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA)

The NCFTA functions as a conduit between private industry and law enforcement with a core mission to identify, mitigate and neutralize cyber crime. In an effort to streamline intelligence exchange, the NCFTA will often organize SME interaction into threat-specific initiatives. Once a significant online scheme is realized and a stakeholder consensus defined, an initiative is developed wherein the NCFTA manages the collection and sharing of intelligence with the affected parties, industry partners, appropriate law enforcement, and other SMEs.
