Shopatron Home & Housewares Brands Continue Strong Sales Growth in 2012


SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Feb. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Home and housewares brands using Shopatron's eCommerce platform produced 109% year-over-year same-store online sales growth in 2011, and 2012 is off to a similarly impressive start, with January sales 96% higher than the same month last year.

According to a study done by the NPD Group, 12% of dollar sales in the small appliance industry from September 2010 to September 2011 came from online purchases. Shopatron attributes much of this considerable growth in online sales to the increasing number of shoppers willing to buy larger items, like furniture and appliances, online. The study also revealed that 26% of sales were researched on the Internet before being purchased.
