Cloud Networking Initiatives Drive Healthcare IT Provider to Choose Aerohive's Enterprise Wi-Fi Solution

SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Aerohive Networks, the pioneer in controller-less Wi-Fi and cloud-enabled networking, today announced that Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of innovative electronic health record (EHR) business solutions, has implemented an Aerohive (News - Alert) enterprise Wi-Fi solution to replace its existing WLAN with a more scalable, manageable and reliable Wi-Fi solution that leverages a cloud-enabled platform.

News Facts

  • Greenway Medical Technologies provides innovative EHR, ambulatory healthcare and clinical research business solutions and services to more than 33,000 healthcare providers nationwide, in 30 specialties and subspecialties, by enhancing the delivery of patient care through advanced health IT software and on-demand services that allow physician practices to function at their highest level of efficiency in group practice, IDN, REC, HIE, IPA, Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) settings. Established in 1998, Carrollton, Ga.-based Greenway is a privately held company with more than 500 employees.
  • Greenway needed to replace its existing Cisco (News - Alert) WLAN with a more manageable, reliable, and centrally cloud-managed Wi-Fi solution. Greenway's legacy wireless LAN - a Cisco Aironet solution with individually managed APs - was not cloud-enabled, nor could its distributed individualized management model keep up with Greenway's rapid growth.
  • Greenway has replaced its Cisco APs with Aerohive's HiveAP 120 APs across four corporate campus locations, with a goal of eliminating network downtime while reducing the amount of time it takes to manage its WLAN. With this goal in mind, the company chose Aerohive as its wireless vendor because of its easy-to-manage and reliable Cooperative Control architecture.
  • In keeping with its cloud-initiative, Greenway is managing its network using Aerohive's Cloud Services Platform - HiveManager Online. HiveManager Online - is designed to make it cost-effective to start small and grow a network with no upfront capital costs beyond the access points. HiveManager Online offers the sae enterprise-class features as Aerohive's HiveManager Network Management System (NMS), but it's easier and less expensive to implement because it is all set up and ready to use, and organizations are not required to deploy another device in their network.
  • Greenway is also utilizing Aerohive's mesh networking capability for AP redundancy and a Greenway corporate campus expansion that's currently underway will make use of weather-proof Aerohive APs to extend the wireless network to a relaxing courtyard seating area. This will provide employees and visitors with 'WiFi (News - Alert)-enabled outdoor dining' capabilities from their laptops and iPads.

"I can be at home or literally anywhere away from the office via a secure HTTPs Internet session, and with the proper login credentials, quickly diagnose a Wi-Fi problem from my laptop or iPad browser - all with complete visibility across my corporate wireless network using HiveManager Online," Ty Puckett, Director of Information Technology, Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc.

"This means I can monitor, diagnose, and resolve any wireless issue that arises without the need to VPN or drive back to the office - it doesn't get any easier or more efficient than that. Aerohive's HiveManager Online is a great example of the type of cloud-based application that perfectly aligns with Greenway Medical Technologies' corporate cloud strategy."

"We have historically standardized on Cisco for virtually all of our network components, but the ease-of-management and the ability to securely and easily manage those APs provided by Aerohive was such a game changer, the Aerohive HiveManager Online solution was the obvious answer to meet our Wi-Fi cloud-enabled wireless infrastructure needs," said Puckett.
