US-Based Globaltel Media Expands Into Philippines With Cherple.ph

SAN DIEGO, CA, Nov 22, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- United States-based Globaltel Media is launching into the Philippines with a localized version of its popular service in Tagalog. The site, Cherple.ph, is now available allowing native Tagalog speakers to have two-way text chats to any Web-enabled computer. The service is free of charge for the computer user.

According to Corlea Research Group, the number of Filipino mobile cellular users is at 92.2 million, but only five percent of these mobile users access the Internet with their phones. Cherple.ph will now be able to provide locals with a new channel of international communication.

According to Globaltel Media President and CEO Robert Sanchez, the company's expansion into Philippines has created the need for in-country partners to support and expand its operations and reseller base.


"Our successful expansion in the Philippines will come from the relationships we secure with telecom partners, operations providers, technology resellers and advertisers," Sanchez said. "With SMS traffic through the site expected to top ten million SMS messages per month, our partners will be critical to the initial performance and plans for expansion." Cherple.com is a text messaging Website that links Web-enabled computers and tablets with any U.S. mobile phone for patent-protected, two-way text communication. By using the most basic forms of wireless communication, the Internet and Cherple.com makes international wireless communication more readily available to a larger number of Internet-connected people. The easy-to-use platform does not require downloads or registration and is accessible from any Internet-connected device.

In addition to the localized Philippines site launched recently, localized Cherple sites are available in the, Mexico, Brazil and India. Expansion into Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam is expected in early 2012.
