[July 21, 2011] Fort Jackson Deploys AtHoc IWSAlerts Emergency Mass Notification System Tweet Jul 21, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- AtHoc, a provider of network-centric emergency mass notification systems, announced that the U.S. Army post at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C., has deployed the AtHoc IWSAlerts emergency mass notification solution to provide emergency notification to troops and their dependents. "AtHoc IWSAlerts demonstrates an innovative network-centric security and emergency communications system," said Scott Thomas, EOC Chief at Fort Jackson, in a release. "Implemented command-wide, this solution can reach 25,000 people in the Fort Jackson community in minutes, greatly enhancing our ability to respond quickly to emergencies, to improve efficiency during an alert and to increase visibility for commanders on force status." Fort Jackson is using desktop notifications to alert personnel about potential threats and emergencies. AtHoc IWSAlerts provides centralized alert activation and control from a unified Web-based console, enabling the management of alerts across multiple and redundant channels such as mobile phones, landlines, BlackBerry devices, SMS text and e-mail. The network-centric emergency mass notification system integrates with the post's existing Internet Protocol network services. Personnel accountability is accomplished through the bi-directional capability, allowing responses to notifications in real-time. Network alert delivery and response can be tracked, ensuring that targeted recipients have received and responded to alerts during actual emergency situations as well as drills and exercises.
