CTERA Networks Ships New High Capacity Cloud Storage Gateway

PALO ALTO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

CTERA™ Networks, the innovator of hybrid cloud-based data protection and storage, today announced the CTERA C800, an 8-bay rackmount appliance as the latest addition to its range of CTERA Cloud Attached Storage® appliances.

The C800 is an ideal cloud on-ramp for businesses that want to enjoy the benefits of cloud storage without compromising on local storage capacity. It provides hybrid on-premises and cloud backup for servers, workstations and laptops, as well as enterprise-grade NAS features for file sharing and collaboration.

The CTERA C800 is managed with CTERA's unique channel-friendly management platform, which enables channel partners and enterprises to roll out their own branded cloud-based managed services. They can either leverage their own datacenter storage infrastructure for maximum profitability, or use 3rd party hosted cloud backends for flexibity and zero upfront investment.

"While cloud storage is seeing tremenous growth, companies are not ready to move everything to the cloud, and local storage capability is paramount," said Liran Eshel, CEO of CTERA Networks. "With CTERA's hybrid approach, businesses get the best of both worlds, and our new CTERA C800 appliance is a robust yet affordable all-in-one solution for their needs."

The C800 joins CTERA's existing 4-bay C400, 2-bay C200 and the small form-factor CloudPlug, to cover a broad range of business data protection and storage needs. Acting as a combined solution for backup, cloud on-ramping and shared storage, C800 feature highlights include:

  • Up to 24TB of raw local storage capacity in 2U rackmount form factor
  • 8 hot-swappable SATA bays in RAID 0/1/5/6 configurations
  • Dual hot-swappable power supplies
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • Centralized and remote management
  • Automated, encrypted cloud backup: AES-256 encryption, deduplication, bandwidth throttling
  • Integrated managed CTERA backup agents for servers, laptops and workstation, with file based and bare metal backup capabilities
  • Next3® Thin-Provisioned Snapshots
  • NAS protocols including CIFS, NFS, rsync, WebDAV and FTP

"Our customers have been asking for larger capacity data protection appliances, and the C800 fills a real gap in the market with its hybrid approach to on-site and cloud storage, while remaining cost-efficient," said Dave Logelin, executive vice president of Condre Storage Inc., a solutions provider and distributor of hardware and software with a specific focus on data storage. "CTERA has been consistent in delivering easy-to-use products, and we expect the C800 to be very popular among midmarket businesses, especially in vertical markets such as medical."

The CTERA C800 is available now through CTERA's global distributor network, starting from $2,999.
