Spectrum Signal Processing's SDR-4000 Selected by Larsen and Toubro for Software Defined Radio Research and Development

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Apr 04, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Spectrum Signal Processing by Vecima (TSX: VCM) today announced that the SDR-4000 has been selected by Larsen and Toubro Limited (L&T) for internal research and development of software defined radio (SDR) capabilities. L&T is building up their domestic SDR expertise, including support for the Software Communications Architecture (SCA), to support future bids to the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD).

"Spectrum's SDR-4000 is an open and programmable platform to build on for development of indigenous SDR capabilities," said Mr. U.K.

Kalyana Ramudu, General Manager of L&T. "The SDR-4000 has the advanced signal processing technology required to support anti-jamming, frequency hopping waveforms that will be developed for the Indian Government and Defense Forces in future programs." "Spectrum is proud to provide SDR solutions for transformational programs that will deliver software-based defence communications and network centric warfare capabilities to the Indian Armed Forces," said Douglas Fast, President of Spectrum. "This contract with L&T reaffirms our commitment to support both government and private industries in India as they advance their Armed Forces modernization initiatives."
