MITX Names Debi Kleiman President

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

MITX (the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (News - Alert)), the country's leading industry association bringing together digital marketing, media and technology professionals to engage on the impact of technology on their business, announces Debi Kleiman as the successor to outgoing President Kiki Mills. Kleiman was most recently vice president, product marketing & sales operations at Communispace Corporation, the pioneer of online customer insight communities working with many of the world's leading brands.

"We are thrilled to have attracted someone of Debi's caliber to lead MITX in its next phase of growth," said Emily Green, vice chairman, MITX. "The strong platform of events, outreach and influence that Kiki established at MITX attracted a number of qualified candidates all more than capable to take over, but Debi's expertise and passion carried the day. We extend a heartfelt thank you to Kiki for her decade of leadership and welcome Debi aboard to take us to the next level."

Kleiman joins MITX on the heels of the association's successful launch of FutureM, a week-long series of events around Boston earlier this month celerating what's new and what's next in marketing, the brainchild of MITX and a group of leading thinkers in marketing and media. In recent years, MITX has tripled membership, grown its awards programs to the largest of their kind in the country, unveiled first-ever research measuring the size and scope of the digital industry, established government relations, and launched FutureM. Outgoing leader Mills will be honored later this month as a 2010 Mass High Tech All-Star for her contributions to the community in her role at MITX.

"I am thrilled to join the MITX team to help it scale and innovate to address the ever-expanding digital media, technology and marketing industry," said Kleiman. "There is tons of energy in Massachusetts and beyond for what's next in marketing and technology; MITX can be central in continuing that momentum. Companies large and small are creating the future right now and there is much more we can do to facilitate and nurture this growth."

Kleiman is a senior marketing executive with a rare combination of classic brand marketing experience and entrepreneurial drive. She has 20 years of experience as a strategic thinker, creative problem-solver and dynamic leader who is passionate about innovation and marketing. In her time with Communispace, she led new product, pricing and competitive strategy, and monitored key industry trends to inform development of innovative offerings and compelling marketing messages. She established herself as a trusted source for guidance and perspective to industry analysts and other key market influencers.

Prior to joining Communispace, Kleiman was with the Oral-B Division of P&G leading a team responsible for a $50 million new product launch. Before that, she held marketing management positions at Welch's, Framelogix.com, the Coca-Cola Company and Burlington Industries. Kleiman received an M.B.A. in general management and marketing from Harvard Business School, and a B.S. in organizational behavior from Cornell University.

The two leaders are working on transition plans; Mills is moving to California later this year and Kleiman will come on board in November. "Handing the reins to someone who has been a pioneer and practitioner in next-generation marketing is tremendously satisfying, knowing that MITX will continue to expand and innovate," said Mills. "We could not have found a more appropriate leader to take over, and I look forward to what's next for MITX."
