BitGravity & ViVu Partner to Offer HD Desktop Video Conferencing & Collaboration Application

Jul 20, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- BitGravity, a content delivery network (CDN) purpose-built to deliver HD video-on-demand and live streaming, and ViVu, a company creating cloud-based solutions for live video participation, announced a partnership that promises to expand videoconferencing capacity to the 1:100,000 level, by deploying ViVu's video-centric desktop conferencing and collaboration application on BitGravity's global HD network.

The companies said the application will combine ViVu's participative platform with live streams output in 720p across BitGravity's global, tier-one network. In addition to providing real-time video conferencing capabilities, participants will have the ability to share applications, desktops, and more. The solution is tailored for enterprises to stream CEO addresses and company meetings across a campus or the world; sales organizations holding departmental meetings and trainings; universities and other educational institutions conducting distance learning; event producers asked to stream product launches or keynotes; and a broad array of media events.

"We partnered with ViVu because of its excellent, video-centric communication platform," said Mangesh Pimpalkhare, Vice President of Product Management at BitGravity. "ViVu has built a powerful interface and suite of tools that are easy to use, and enable people to communicate and collaborate with video being at the core of the experience." "The quality of BitGravity's live streams and the scale of its network will help us at ViVu realize the full promise of our platform," added Sudha Valluru, CEO of ViVu, "With BitGravity, the application will accommodate massive, HD live conferences around the world." The application will require no installation and will enable participants to view and participate from their desktops using a standard Web browser and a broad range of cameras, including standard Web cams and professional-grade cameras with DV output. Additional features will include moderator capabilities, sharing of desktops and a wide variety of applications, Twitter integration, event archiving, and analytics. The application will be available in the fall, the groups noted in a release.
