Nexaira Wireless Develops Wireless Back Up Solution for Canadian Retailer on Rogers HSPA+ Network

Jul 09, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Nexaira Wireless, Inc. announced that it has provided a high availability networking solution for Quilts Etc. on Rogers Communications Inc.'s HSPA+ network.

According to a release, the Business Class II router and Rogers, a Canadian network, provide a fail-safe highly secure wireless networking service that "stands in" in the event of wireline service disruption.

The management of Quilts had determined a better networking solution was required after losing thousands in merchandise sales during the Olympics due to persistent wireline failure. After testing different configurations Quilts decided to look at backing up the existing wireline service with a Nexaira router and Rogers Rocket Mobile Internet Stick. This not only lowered the amount of equipment at the store level but also enhanced network performance and uptime by a considerable margin. Now Quilts, in the event of a wireline connection failure, have a built in failover solution that uses Dynamic DNS on the public IP network with Rogers APN and establishes a VPN IPsec tunnel to the Quilts HQ, all within seconds and all from one device. Once the DSL service is restored, as determined by the BCIIs anti-flap feature, it automatically reconnects to the DSL circuit.

"We are very pleased to have been chosen by Quilts and are confident they have a much more robust, reliable and secure connection than ever before. Combined with the lightening fast Rocket Stick, Quilts will realize a peace of mind that they can continue to operate their business and process sales transactions even when their DSL service fails," said Bob Young, EVP of Business Development of Nexaira.

"We were impressed with the outcome of this solution provided by Rogers and Nexaira and until recently we had not seen a solution with this same capability. Moreover we had yet to encounter a combination of wireless network provider and router manufacturer that would work with us to ensure we were making the right decision. As a result we intend to offer all 50 locations this same business continuity solution we have realized here in our Oakridge location," said CTO of Quilts, Susan Y.
