MOULTRIE, May 28, 2010 (The Moultrie Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A Macon man charged in a shoplifting case Monday escaped from Colquitt Regional Medical Center Wednesday morning and stole some medical equipment.
A Moultrie police officer was called to Colquitt Regional on South Main Street about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday about a theft. The officer spoke with a hospital employee, who stated Billy Moore, 59, left the hospital without being properly checked out.
When he left the hospital, Moore allegedly took a Telemetry Unit 10 portable heart monitor valued at $1,809.
Moore was admitted into Colquitt Regional on Monday after he and Bridget Latrice Henry, 41, of 4347 Essex Road in Macon, allegedly stole some computers from Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway. Henry was placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail, charged with theft by shoplifting, but Moore complained of heart problems while being interviewed at the Moultrie Police Department about the alleged computer thefts.
Moultrie police officers were called to Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway about 4:10 p.m. Monday about a possible shoplifting. An employee stated two people in a white Chevrolet Suburban allegedly got two desktop computers, valued at $1,396, and walked out of the store.
A Colquitt County sheriff's deputy spotted the Suburban at Murphy's Express and spoke with Henry, who was alone at the time. Moultrie police officers arrived at the scene and allegedly saw the stolen computers in the rear, along with two televisions believed stolen from another location.
Henry was placed under arrest and taken to the Moultrie Police Department while other officers searched for the second person, identified as Moore. Moore was found at Hardee's, placed under arrest and taken to the Moultrie Police Department also.
Warrants taken out on him include escape, theft by taking, giving false information to an officer, theft by shoplifting and obstruction.
