Brett Anderson of The Donnas Premieres First-Ever Solo Material on The Right Track: Tunes to TargetCancerCAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- TargetCancer, a non-profit organization devoted to helping fund research into rare and lesser known cancers, has launched its second installment in the download series 'The Right Track: Tunes To TargetCancer.' This second release of songs features a premiere of solo work from Brett Anderson of The Donnas, in addition to previously unreleased music from Tracy Bonham, State Radio, Joe Pernice and John Cunningham, Marissa Nadler, Dear Leader, Scarce and Los Straitjackets. For a donation of as little as $.99 per song, music lovers can download songs donated by these popular artists exclusively to TargetCancer, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to funding for rare cancer research. The new additions join exclusive unreleased tracks from Weezer, Ween, The Donnas, Cowboy Junkies, Linda Thompson, Dean and Britta, and others. The initial launch in February raised thousands of dollars for rare cancer research. Those songs are still available at www.rightracktunes.org. TargetCancer was founded by Paul Poth, a Boston-based attorney and devout music fan. From classical to punk, jazz to rock, Paul listened to it all. An accomplished cook, he might begin an evening playing Tchaikovsky or Chet Baker during dinner, and move on to Husker Du, The Feelies, and The Figgs by dessert. In 2007, at age 38, Paul was diagnosed with hepatobiliary duct cancer, an extremely rare form of cancer - so rare, in fact, that no treatment protocol existed for it. Instead, Paul's doctors had to determine a course of treatment based on other cancers. It was this fact that drove Paul to create TargetCancer. After fighting for close to two years, Paul passed away in August 2009, but his fight, and his passion, lives on through TargetCancer and The Right Track series. "Not one of us will escape being touched by cancer in some way," says TargetCancer's Director and President, Kristen Palma, who was married to Poth.
