Aspiro Music: Aspiro and Telenor bring WiMP to Denmark

STOCKHOLM --(Business Wire)-- Regulatory News: From mid-April, Telenor's (News - Alert) Danish customers will have access to Aspiro's music streaming service WiMP. The launch means that WiMP will be the first music streaming service for PC, Mac and mobile available in Denmark.

"Aspiro's goal in the Music business area is to expand to additional markets in cooperation with partners. In this connection, we are now pleased to launch the WiMP in the Danish market with Telenor", says Gunnar Sellæg, CEO of Aspiro.

Local market adaptation is an important success factor for the WiMP, and WiMP in Denmark will be a service adapted for Danish users. Aspiro's music department will be updated on everything that happens on the Danish music scene and bring this directly to the users of the service. The editors will provide recommendations, publish playlists and ensure that the latest releases always are in place in the service, which from the start contains millions of songs.

Telenor's Danish customers will have access to the entire library in WiMP via PC, Mac, Linux and Android (News - Alert) based mobile phones. Users can then listen to music on the go - and they can also share it with friends, for example via Facebook or Twitter. Aspiro has recently submitted its iPhone client for WiMP for approval for distribution via Apple's (News - Alert) App Store.

"We are very much looking forward to offer this state-of-the-art music solution in Denmark," said Peter Berg, Marketing Director at Telenor. "It offers an unmatched sound quality and is incredibly easy to use. You search for a song, click on it and it plays. We therefore see this as a good reason to drop the record collection at home, not least because users can carry the WiMP with them. They can access it from multiple PCs and mobiles and they can also share it with their friends and send playlists back and forth." Customers of Telenor will be able to access the service for 99 kroner per month, just as in Norway. In Denmark, Telenor launches an offer for their customers who subscribe to two or more products, such as mobile telephony and broadband. The offer provides them with six months free access and then half the price of the service.

WiMP will be beta launched in Denmark on April 15 and the full launch is planned during May.
