Oman Air to roll out mobile phone and Wi-Fi connectivity on new Airbus A330 aircraft


Jan 19, 2010 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) -- Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, announced today that it will become the first airline worldwide to offer the full mobile phone and Wi-Fi connectivity suite on its commercial widebody aircraft when its starts to unroll Mobile OnAir and Internet OnAir services on its new Airbus A330 fleet from mid-February.



Following the introduction of Mobile OnAir and Internet OnAir to its aircraft, Oman Air passengers in First, Business and Economy class will be able to make and receive mobile phone calls and text messages, send and receive emails and use the Internet while on-board flights.

The airline's A330 fleet has been fitted with the Airbus ALNA V2 system, using Honeywell's SwiftBroadband solution, which supports mobile phone and Internet in-flight communication.
