China Jan-Nov Cellphone Output Up 4.6%


BEIJING, Jan 04, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Chinese industrial companies with over-CNY-5-million annual revenues totally produced 562.716 million mobile phones in the first eleven months of 2009, representing a year-on-year growth of 4.6%, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT).



These above-designated-size companies saw their total output of base stations hike 112.8% to 27.501 million channels meanwhile, however, the output of fixed-line phones plunged 20.2% to 132.2 million sets.

Local above-designated-size communications equipment companies achieved total sales of CNY 749.39 billion from January to November 2009, including CNY 404.72 billion from overseas markets, down 2% and 12.4%, respectively. Their overall operating revenues from main businesses declined 1.3% to CNY 74.86 billion in the period, but their total profits hiked 49% to CNY 40.75 billion.


In addition, China invested over CNY 200 billion in its communications industry from January to September 2009, and such investments were expected to exceed CNY 270 billion in the full year, according to the MIIT.
