Persystent Software Introduces Process for IT Customers Switching to Windows 7Nov 20, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Persystent Software, a developer of automated PC recovery solutions, announced its 3-step process to accommodate IT customers who plan to update their O/S to Windows 7. "The existing migration tools offered by Microsoft can be very manual. When thousands of PCs need to be deployed, it might not be a feasible solution for enterprises. That's where Persystent Software makes a huge difference," said Katherine Wattwood, VP of Product Development at Persystent Software. According to Wattwood, "Whether it's new hardware preloaded with Windows 7 or an existing desktop, laptop or notebook, with Persystent, IT can automate the migration of thousands of computers by scheduling tasks at a preferred time and date, which makes for a seamless transition." In the case of provisioning new machines, Persystent Software said its capabilities enable organizations to image multiple machines simultaneously. Once the new O/S is installed, the previously captured user profiles can be automatically restored to the new Windows 7 machines. In the case of re-provisioning existing machines, since the upgrade option is not available in Windows 7 Setup when installing Windows 7 on a computer running Windows XP, Persystent accelerates the process of re-provisioning by suggesting that the computer's operating system be removed by formatting the hard drive. After Windows 7 is then installed, Persystent Software restores the end user profiles which would otherwise be lost.
