Bishop talks about the silencing of a free voice in Bethlehem after Israeli forces shut down radio

(Palestine News Network Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jerusalem / PNN - The Israeli assault on Palestinian media is not going unnoticed, with one of the most blatant acts being the recent confiscation of broadcast equipment at Radio Bethlehem 2000. The station is still off the air after Israeli forces threatened them with bombing if they returned.Bishop Atallah Hanna expressed his solidarity with Radio Bethlehem 2000, and with all Palestinian media, after this latest violation of press freedom. He said today, "This blatant assault falls within the policy of the occupation aimed to undermine the Arab and Palestinian free media seeking to deliver the whole truth." The Bishop added during his Wednesday comments, "We deplore the pursuing of the Palestinian media and obstructing of its work. We strongly condemn the silencing of a meaningful voice, a genuine national sound, in the heart of Bethlehem."He said, "We are at the point that it is necessary to affirm our solidarity with Radio Bethlehem 2000 and demand from all official, civil and media to stand together in the face of this policy aimed at silencing free voices."
