ShopSavvy integrates Skyhook Wireless's Android SDK

Mar 09, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Skyhook Wireless, a provider of Wi-Fi positioning systems, and Big in Japan, a developer of the ShopSavvy personal shopping assistant for the Android-powered T-Mobile G1 phone, have announced that ShopSavvy has integrated the Skyhook Wireless Android SDK to enhance location performance.

Skyhook said that with ShopSavvy, consumers can scan product barcodes using its phone's built-in camera to search for the best prices online and at nearby stores. The application uses location awareness to facilitate searches of local store inventories for products and prices.

Kate Imbach, director of marketing at Skyhook Wireless, said: "ShopSavvy is an application that uses the context of location to improve and add relevancy to local search. For location to truly enhance apps, it must meet consumer standards for reliability. Skyhook Wireless offers the only hybrid positioning system that meets these standards." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
