Veraz Announces Nortel DMS Replacement Program

SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Veraz Networks, Inc., (NASDAQ:VRAZ) the leading provider of Multimedia Generation Network (MGN) application, control, and bandwidth optimization products, today announced a program to enable service providers using Nortel's legacy DMS circuit switches to quickly migrate to a next-generation IP network powered by Veraz's MGN portfolio. Over 100 wireline and wireless service providers worldwide already use the MGN portfolio to carry billions of minutes of VoIP and data services traffic each month.

Nortel's recent bankruptcy filing and shift in focus toward enterprise customers leaves many service providers uncertain of on-going support from Nortel for their legacy DMS switches. Given the critical role the switch plays in an operator's network, Veraz's program will help Nortel customers migrate traffic from their legacy infrastructure while simultaneously putting in place a cost-effective next-generation IP platform that scales to handle new traffic and services.

"Nortel's service provider customers need a way to quickly migrate their critical network assets to platforms from vendors committed to their business," said Doug Sabella, CEO and President, Veraz Networks. "With the Nortel replacement program, we are offering a product and support package that will not only minimize service providers' near-term exposure to potential changes to Nortel's business, but will also serve as a next-generation platform for growing their business in the future."

Providing a complete platform for migrating service providers off of legacy TDM switches like the Nortel DMS, the Veraz MGN portfolio includes the ControlSwitch™ VoIP switching platform, Network-adaptive Border Controller and I-Gate 4000 family of media gateways and session bandwidth optimizers.

The ControlSwitch VoIP platform includes a powerful distributed policy-based routing engine and industry leading support for the interworking of SS7, SIP-I and SIP protocols. In addition, the open services architecture of the ControlSwitch enables service providers to easily reuse their legacy services infrastructure. The Network-adaptive Border Controller incorporates a unique security architecture that, when combined with the ControlSwitch, dramatically reduces the cost and complexity required to provide secure services. The I-Gate 4000 family of media gateways and session bandwidth optimizers deliver enhanced media management capabilities, enabling service providers to continue to provide toll-quality voice services as they migrate from their legacy TDM core to an IP core network.

Service providers interested in learning more about the replacement program should contact a Veraz sales representative at salesoffer@veraznetworks.com.
