VDIworks Launches VDIworks2Go to Manage Virtual Desktops for Mobile Workforce

VDIworks, a virtual desktop software provider, introduced VDIworks2Go,
a software solution that helps the mobile workforce capitalize on the
use of virtual desktops.

With VDIworks2Go, the company noted, workers access a centralized
virtual desktop from their laptop, and then can take it with them,
allowing them to fully benefit from the security, total cost of
ownership and management advantages presented by a centralized desktop
computing infrastructure on the go.

"VDIworks2Go eliminates challenges inherent in other virtual desktop
approaches and caters to the mobile user. With 'hosted VDI,' the moment
the network connection is lost the user's ability to work is
interrupted. With 'endpoint virtualization,' a virtual machine always
runs on the user's device even when far more powerful datacenter
resources could be used. VDIworks2go provides the benefits of
centralized virtual desktops while still allowing end users to
disconnect from that infrastructure," said Amir Husain, president and
CEO of VDIworks.

According to the company, VDIworks2Go users will be able to select
either "disconnected" or "hosted" modes. The disconnected mode will
stream the virtual machine onto the laptop so that the user can leave


the office and take their virtual desktop with them.

"VDIworks is a pioneer in the virtual desktop market and they have seen
early success for their host-based VDI solution, and therefore it's not
surprising that they are one of the earliest entrants into the market
for mobile virtual desktops," said Daniel Kusnetzky, president and
principal analyst, Kusnetzky Group. "The mobile market is still very
young, however it is clear that companies will quickly realize the cost
savings, management and security benefits presented by solutions such
as VDIworks2Go."
