Danisco Sets up Fermentation Bacteria Unit in China

BEIJING, Oct 17, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --
Denmark-based food ingredient giant Danisco sets up a fermentation bacteria company in Beijing to come up with demand from the Chinese dairy product makers, disclosed people in the know recently.

The new unit is founded after Danisco acquired the fermentation bacteria business from Beijing FUMENGTE Biotechnology Co., Ltd. several days earlier. In addition to the production facilities, the newborn company will get the R&D staff from the seller, said an executive for FUMENGTE.

Moreover, Danisco plans to build a bacteria plant in Daxing District, Beijing to provide products for medium- and big-sized dairy product producers in China, according to the executive.

The Danish company is one of the beneficiaries of the fast-growing dairy product industry in China. Its European plants have been gaining orders from most of the dairy product makers in China. It had close ties with plenty of top Chinese dairy product makers such as Bright Dairy & Food Co., Ltd.
