McDonald's Japan sees 5-fold rise in 2007 group net profit+
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) TOKYO, Feb. 7_(Kyodo) _ McDonald's Holdings Co. (Japan) Ltd. said Thursday its consolidated net profit in 2007 was five times higher than in the previous year, totaling 7.82 billion yen on record high sales of 395.06 billion yen, up 11.1 percent.
Pretax profit jumped 173.6 percent to 15.62 billion yen thanks to brisk sales of new products and 24-hour operations that started at many outlets, said the largest fast food chain in Japan.
Last November, McDonald's Japan was found to have sold salads with false dates of production at four of its hamburger outlets in Tokyo, but the company said the scandal had little impact on the overall earnings performance.
The firm, traded on the Jasdaq stock market, expects to post 10 billion yen in group net profit in 2008, up 27.9 percent from the previous year, on 412 billion yen in sales, up 4.3 percent.
