Wylfa company backs awards


(Daily Post (Liverpool) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) THE Daily Post can today reveal that Magnox North is backing the Achievement Wales 2007 Business Awards.

The company is to sponsor the business competition's Green Business Award, a new category this year.

Greg Evans, site director at Wylfa, Anglesey, said last night: "Magnox North is delighted to come on board at the last minute to sponsor the Business Green Award.

"We at Wylfa are fully committed to looking after the environment which is why we are pleased to support and recognise the contributions from other companies."

Richard Daly, the Daily Post event co-ordinator, said: "We are delighted that such a prestigious business is backing Achievement Wales.

"It further reinforces the prestige and kudos of the Daily Post's Achievement Wales Business Awards."

The Achievement Wales 2007 Business Awards are jointly sponsored with the newspaper by executive sponsors HSBC Bank and the Welsh Assembly Government.

The awards scheme, which has 10 categories in all, is designed to find and celebrate the achievements of outstanding businesses of all sizes across North and mid Wales.

Winners will be revealed at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Prichard Jones Hall, Bangor University, tonight.

Other category sponsors are Finance Wales, Stena Line, Anglesey Airport, Breakout in Style, Bangor University, International Business Wales, HSBC Bank, Welsh Assembly Government and dailypost.co.uk.

Magnox Electric Ltd is the site licence company that manages the day-to-day operations across two regions of UKreactor sites, Magnox North and Magnox South, on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

The Magnox North region includes the operational nuclear power station at Wylfa and the decommissioned site at Trawsfynydd.

A priority focus for Magnox Electric is excellence in performance on contract delivery against electricity generation and decommissioning plans agreed with the NDA.
