NexTone, Cantata, and Pactolus Introduce SIP-Based Carrier Prepaid Solution

SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- NexTone(R), a leader in session border controllers and scalable session management solutions for VoIP, multi-media, and IMS network interconnects, today announced that the NexTone Lab has certified the NexTone-Cantata-Pactolus Calling Card and Voice over Broadband (VoBB) service solution as ServiceReady(TM) with NexTone's IntelliConnect(TM) System. The solution exercised Pactolus' SIPWare(TM) Calling Card and VoBB service offerings, NexTone's Multiprotocol Session Exchange (MSX) product with integrated SBC functionality, and Cantata's IMG 1010 Media Gateway. The goal of NexTone's Lab is to ensure interoperability with other vendors' products to offer turnkey solutions that meet service providers' time to market, and to help service providers confidently deliver revenue-generating services today.

The ServiceReady certification confirms that the solution has established end-to-end interoperability for Pactolus' prepaid SIPware application and its BBTel application with NexTone products. It also involves a close working relationship between NexTone and Pactolus in the areas of sales, marketing, support, and product management. This ServiceReady solution is ideal for carriers, service integrators, and resellers in the prepaid market that are replacing expensive long distance call traffic currently purchased from legacy TDM facilities-based wholesalers with far more affordable SIP peering wholesale services. The Cantata Media Gateway provides a cost-effective way for providers to bridge the IP islands with the PSTN network, ensuring global reach. The NexTone products provide session layer security, SIP protocol interworking, and call routing intelligence to facilitate a normalized network edge.

NexTone, Cantata, and Pactolus are working jointly with several IP carrier customers, such as LatiNode -- one of the world's largest IP solutions providers in the international VoIP industry -- that are taking advantage of the high-growth market for prepaid VoIP services. The ServiceReady solution provides a simple, proven, and cost-effective prepaid VoIP service for carriers, with the ability to offer flexible rate plans to their customers and adjust quickly when needed. A SIP-based solution also dramatically decreases carrier roll out times for new VoIP services versus those based on a traditional TDM platform.

The interoperability process has gained Pactolus NexTone Compatible(TM) partner status. Pactolus SIPware(TM) services, including Prepaid Calling and VoBB are now certified NetworkReady(TM) with NexTone's IntelliConnect System. NetworkReady certification indicates that the Pactolus SIPware service products receiving the certification have successfully completed rigorous testing designed to confirm interoperability with the specified versions of the products that make up NexTone's IntelliConnect System. Interoperability with the NexTone IntelliConnect System enables Pactolus to leverage NexTone's Session Border Control functionality and advanced call routing capabilities to support SIP trunking and SIP peering services. The Cantata IMG 1010 Media Gateway is also certified as NetworkReady.
