Nissan and Renault uninterested in Chrysler purchase (Renault-Nissan will Chrysler nicht kaufen)

(Die Welt Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Renault, the French automotive group, and the Japanese automotive company Nissan, which are linked by a cross-participation, are interested in a co-operation partner in the US, but not in Chrysler, the US arm of German-US group DaimlerChrysler, according to a press source. The management of DaimlerChrysler has indicated that all options are open for the loss-making US business, including a sale.

The Italian Fiat group and the South Korean group Hyundai had already reported that they were not interested in acquiring Chrysler. Some analysts had regarded Renault-Nissan as a potential co-operation partner or buyer for the US manufacturer.
