The increment is the least one in the past five quarters.
UC, an instant messaging tool issued by Sina Corporation, was a highlight in Q1. Thanks to the cooperation with Sina website, the celebrity advertisement, and video-chatting system, the subscribers of UC had been growing sharply.
In terms of the market share, Tencent QQ still held the No.1 position by its successful marketing mode, earliest entrance, and huge subscribers and totally controlled 69.28% shares, a slight decline from previous quarter.
However, Tencent QQ was cleaning the silent subscribers so when it comes to the active subscribers of instant messaging services, Tencent QQ also held 81.67% market shares by Q1. Keeping the leading position, Tencent QQ is gradually moving its focus from increasing subscribers to providing more value-added services.
