Alanco/TSI PRISM(TM) Exhibits at National Jail Conference

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. --(Business Wire)-- May 22, 2006 -- Alanco Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ALAN), developer of the TSI PRISM RFID officer safety and inmate tracking system for the corrections industry, announced today that the company is exhibiting at the American Jail Association (AJA) 25th Annual Training Conference and Jail Expo being held May 21-25 in Salt Lake City. The exhibition attracts senior law enforcement command staff, city and county jail administrators, and representatives of local government funding bodies. Sponsors of the conference expect well over 1,000 attendees. This will be Alanco's first appearance at an AJA conference. The company will be showcasing its recently developed 2.4 GHz RTLS (real time locating system) staff and inmate tracking technology designed specifically for jail applications.

Alanco/TSI PRISM President, Greg M. Oester, commented, "The rash of high profile murders, escapes and allegations of staff abuse in major metropolitan jails over the past 12-14 months has created strong interest for a TSI PRISM solution particularly designed for a jail environment. Rapid inmate turnover, in some jails exceeding 1,000 per day, is one facet of jail management that differs significantly from inmate management at a state prison. We have redesigned our TSI PRISM inmate wrist-worn transmitter with a new quick-release strap mechanism for rapid inmate enrollments and a rechargeable battery. The new jail version TSI PRISM system is also Wi-Fi compliant, enabling interface connections with other wireless communication devices, such as PDAs. We believe that the total potential market for TSI PRISM in the largest 45 to 50 city/county jails in the U.S. could approach $500 million, as compared to the approximately $1.5 billion prison market potential, with the AJA Expo offering an opportunity to showcase our unique technology."

Alanco Technologies Inc., headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., is the developer of the TSI PRISM RFID continuous tracking system for the corrections industry, which tracks the location and movement of inmates and officers, resulting in significant prison operating cost reductions and enhanced officer safety and facility security. Utilizing RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tracking technology with proprietary software and patented hardware components, TSI PRISM provides real-time inmate and officer identification, location and tracking capabilities both indoors and out. TSI PRISM is currently utilized in prisons in Michigan, California, Illinois and Ohio. The company also participates in the data storage industry through two subsidiary companies: Arraid Inc., a manufacturer of proprietary storage products to upgrade older "legacy" computer systems; and Excel/Meridian Data Inc., a manufacturer of Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems.
