Nokia Set to Gain More Market Shares in China

(SinoCast China Business Daily News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BEIJING, May 03, SinoCast -- The world's top handset maker Nokia announced that it would serve up full-line of products in China, striving to snap more market shares there.

By the end of last year, the company had occupied over 30% of the mobile phone market in Greater China region, and the amount continued to swell in the first three months of this year after it rolled out an array of new products.

Moreover, the company has taken a favorable foothold and will further strengthen its leading position in the Chinese market, said Colin Giles, senior vice president in charge of Nokia's customer and marketing operations in Greater China.

However, Colin Giles did not disclose how many market shares the handset maker is going to gain in the eastern country.

At the moment, Nokia is facing two major business opportunities in the market. One is to obtain new mobile phone users in rural areas, and the other is to win more consumers seeking after fashions in big cities.
