The Judge: BANK FRAUDSTER TRIES TO GET BARRY'S LOG-ON

(Sunday Mail Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BARRY COHEN switched to internet banking because he thought it was safe.

But weeks after he signed up with HSBC, he became the target of online fraud, known as phishing.

The first he knew was when HSBC wrote to say they had blocked access to his account.

A fraudster had sent unemployed Barry a fake log-on page asking him to give his password.

Barry, 46, of Newton Mearns, Glasgow, said: "The only difference between it and the bank's page was a missing padlock symbol. I wasn't fooled but others could be."

At first, HSBC blamed Barry but he said: "My PC is securely networked, I have firewalls and anti-spyware scanners. Who's kidding who?"

I got on to HSBC for him. They apologised and are sending him pounds 50.
