Oodle Announces Partnerships with Lycos and Backpage; Oodle Launches Partner Network With Charter Partners

SAN MATEO, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- March 7, 2006 -- Oodle(TM), the search engine for local classifieds, announced today that Lycos and Backpage are charter members of the new Oodle Partner Network. Oodle, with more than 10 million classified listings from thousands of sources, is the nation's largest index of classified advertising.

The Oodle Partner Network

Oodle is working with partners to incorporate its search experience into their respective sites - from local newspapers to Internet portals - using a newly released application programming interface (API).

When consumers visit classifieds sites, they simply want to find what they are looking for. As a member of the Oodle Partner Network, partners can display results from Oodle's search index delivered through the Oodle API. Classifieds publishers can then both highlight their inventory of listings as well as give their users the option to see what's available on other local sites.

Publishers in Oodle's index benefit by receiving increased exposure. When a consumer sees results from Oodle on a partner site, the results link directly to the publisher. "By broadening the base of our search platform, classifieds publishers in our index can receive even more qualified traffic through Oodle," said Craig Donato, co-founder and CEO of Oodle.

Lycos and Backpage are Charter Partners

Oodle search results are being incorporated into Lycos' new classified marketplace, which launched this week and is located at lycos.oodle.com. Lycos, a leading portal destination for consumers and creators of quality content, operates a broad range of popular sites including Lycos.com, Angelfire.com, Hotbot.com, Tripod.com and Wired.com.

"We're excited about the launch of our Lycos classifieds," said Brian Kalinowski, chief operating officer of Lycos, Inc. "Not only can our users post classified listings for free, but by partnering with Oodle they quickly identify the most relevant listings, whether they were published on our site or elsewhere."

Oodle results are also being added to Backpage.com, a group of free community classified sites operated by local media outlets including newspapers, radio and television stations in 40 metro areas. This week results were introduced in Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Tucson, Boston and San Antonio.

"We're excited to include Oodle's results in our local marketplaces," said Carl Ferrer vice president of Backpage. "If our users can't first find it on Backpage, we're happy to direct them to other resources where they can find what they're looking for."
