Per-Se Technologies and Allscripts Sign Multi-Year e-Prescribing Services and EHR Solutions Agreement

ALPHARETTA, Ga. --(Business Wire)-- March 2, 2006 -- Per-Se Technologies (Nasdaq: PSTI), the leader in Connective Healthcare solutions that help physicians, pharmacies, hospitals and healthcare organizations realize their financial goals, announced today a multi-year agreement that provides Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX) electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) solutions with access to the Per-Se Intelligent Network for enhanced transaction processing services. In addition, the agreement allows Per-Se to resell the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR).

"By joining forces, Allscripts will be able to leverage the Per-Se Intelligent Network and a wide variety of ancillary network services to further promote their e-prescribing connectivity initiatives," said Phil Pead, chairman, president and CEO of Per-Se Technologies. "Together with Allscripts, our innovative solutions will help drive greater physician adoption of e-prescribing and EHR solutions which will help improve both the clinical and administrative aspects of healthcare."

As part of the agreement, Allscripts, the leading provider of clinical systems to ambulatory and office-based physicians, will use the Per-Se Intelligent Network to electronically transmit prescriptions from its physician clients to pharmacies. This connectivity service includes formulary and eligibility verification, medical history and other value-added transactions information critical to successful transmission of electronic prescriptions. Today, Per-Se connects to approximately 90% of all retail pharmacies in the United States and virtually all third party payers. Per-Se utilizes the SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network exclusively to electronically route prescription information between physician practices and the nation's pharmacies.

"Working with an industry leader like Per-Se will enable us to supplement e-prescribing technology with additional innovative tools to help physicians improve the prescription process. Our agreement supports our goal to continue to inform, connect and transform healthcare," said Glen Tullman, chief executive officer of Allscripts.

Per-Se will also offer Allscripts' Electronic Health Record to Per-Se practice management clients. Per-Se will also bundle the solution to those deploying Per-Se outsourced receivables management services.

In an effort to curb medication errors, Per-Se will also deliver its RxSafety Advisor(R) solution to Allscripts physician customers. RxSafety Advisor is an innovative clinical solution that physicians use to check for preventable errors at the moment a prescription is created. RxSafety Advisor sends a physician an electronic alert during the prescription process to identify known look-alike and sound-alike pairs related to oral prescription drugs.

"The industry is rallying around the message and mission that faxing of new prescriptions and refills must end," said Kevin Hutchinson, president and chief executive officer of SureScripts. "Per-Se's Pharmacy Solutions division, formerly NDCHealth, has been the leading value-added reseller of the SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network since 2003. Many of Allscripts' existing physician users have taken advantage of a two-way connection with community pharmacy, since 2004, by upgrading their application to the SureScripts certified version. The relationship between Per-Se, Allscripts and SureScripts will continue to enable existing and future Allscripts physician users to utilize the SureScripts network and, in doing so, eliminate manual data entry, faxing and phone calls and automate the prescribing process overall."
