Calypso Wireless Announces Release of Its ASNAP Session Controller (ASC)

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. --(Business Wire)-- Jan. 26, 2006 -- Calypso Wireless, Inc. (Pink Sheets:CLYW), a leader in advanced wireless telecommunications technology, announced today that Calypso ASNAP(TM) Session Controller (ASC) is the first Open Source Seamless Mobility solution that hits the market and with Calypso ASC and Calypso C1250i WiFi-GSM Dual Mode VoIP Smart cellular phone users will be able to seamlessly connect between cellular mobile GSM network and WiFi networks and enjoy new added services such as broadband connectivity and wireless VoIP services.

The Calypso ASC software enhances and helps implement the Calypso patented ASNAP(TM) technology (U.S. Patent #6,680,923) that allows the seamless switching between cellular towers and various access points. Calypso's C1250i, which runs on Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) PXA series application processor and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) WinCE 5.0 operating system, has already been successfully demonstrated in field trials.

Calypso ASNAP(TM) Session Controller works with Asterisk (http://www.asterisk.org) IP-PBX starting with release 1.2.2 making ASC an Open Source solution for seamless mobility.

"The combination of Calypso ASC and Asterisk Open Source solutions offer rich and flexible feature sets like Voicemail, Conference Bridging, Call Queuing and Call Detail Records. Asterisk offers both classical PBX functionality and advanced features, and interoperates with traditional standards-based telephony systems and VoIP systems. This solution is also E911 compliant. We can present to our clients an extraordinary savings considering that the 35% to 40% of business cell phone minutes are in-building," says Alfredo Sarrazin, Vice President of Sales of Calypso Wireless, Inc.

"Using Calypso ASC with Asterisk enables the user to switch seamlessly from the GSM cellular tower to the WiFi Access Point without interruption and at the same time the Calypso C1250i WiFi-GSM Dual Mode VoIP Smart cellular phone will work like a PABX extension. Calypso ASC, in combination with the ASNAP(TM) client, are always monitoring the signal quality providing the best way for users to connect and carry their conversations by using Calypso's patented technology. Calypso ASC does not require any proprietary technology and allows the re-use of the current Access Points infrastructure already deployed without having to incur any additional expenses," says Alessandro Valenti, Vice President of R&D of Calypso Wireless, Inc.

"Calypso ASC with Asterisk seems to be a stronger technology than the one presented by OEMs which integrates gateways with legacy PABX. Calypso ASC provides the first open source seamless mobility solution to the market and its easy implementation. Calypso ASC with Asterisk could be a rightful competitor of the proprietary Motorola (MOT) and Avaya solution. It is an outstanding platform and very affordable," says Milton Campuzano, President of Servinova, a Cisco Systems Registered partner Company.

"We at Servinova are excited in launching the Calypso C1250i Smart Cellular phone. Users will also benefit from the fast WiFi internet broadband connectivity when accessing web applications and be able to save money on local or long distance calls interconnecting with Skype (NASDAQ:EBAY)," says Campuzano.

About Calypso Wireless, Inc.

Calypso Wireless is the company behind the ASNAP(TM) technology for which it was granted U.S. Patent #6,680,923 titled "Communication system and method" (http://www.uspto.gov search U.S. patent number 6,680,923), which covers the seamless roaming of voice, video and data between Wide Area Network access points, such as cellular towers (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, CDMA, WCMDA etc.) and short-range Internet access points (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.).

Calypso's patented ASNAP(TM) technology will enable cellular phones to automatically detect any available Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and then seamlessly switch between the signals of standard cellular link towers and an available short-range broadband network such as cable or DSL with Wi-Fi), accelerating wireless broadband deployment, thereby creating a platform for revenue sharing between the synergistic companies and increased revenues for them by delivering new added services. It could also provide significant savings to Mobile Carriers in additional frequency spectrum and infrastructure equipment by offloading capacity to the Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) and IP networks while providing additional sources of revenue. The integration of ASNAP(TM) technology will enable greatly enhanced services such as broadband connectivity, real time two way video conferencing, VoIP and network-based gaming applications via Calypso' cellular phones, PDA's (Personal Digital Assistance) or any mobile devise powered with the company's ASNAP(TM) technology. The patent has also given Calypso the rights to offer license agreements to major mobile and ISP carriers as well as to cellular phones manufacturer and OEM's. Calypso has also built upon its patented ASNAP(TM) technology to create a new technology that could provide 'the' solution that allows satellite radio signals from carriers such as Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio to be readily received by all types of mobile wireless devices, thus generating a new potential revenue stream for both the satellite radio companies and the companies supplying service to mobile phones and devices and the manufacturers and retailers of those devices, as well for the licensing of this technology by Calypso.
