LEGO Puts the RFID Blocks Together with Acsis' Data-Link(TM) Enterprise Solution; LEGO Has Gone Live with Acsis' Data-Link Enterprise for RFID Solution to Ship and Track Products

MARLTON, N.J. --(Business Wire)-- Jan. 25, 2006 -- Acsis, Inc., a Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. partner company and a leader in delivering shop floor process automation and enterprise data collection solutions for the supply chain, today announced that it has successfully implemented its Data-Link Enterprise solution at The LEGO Group (LEGO). LEGO, one of the world's leading manufacturers of play materials for children, is based in Billund, Denmark with operations throughout the world.

The Acsis Data-Link Enterprise solution enables LEGO to ship and track 10,000 RFID-enabled cases of products each month to global retailers.

Data-Link Enterprise manages the integration of Electronic Product Code(TM) (EPC) and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) data with the existing Warehouse Management Solutions (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. This combination of integration between the shop floor, WMS, and ERP systems provides a scalable platform that enables LEGO to build upon their existing architecture and investments without having to institute new processes or systems to accommodate RFID usage.

"Acsis has proven they are a leader in RFID," said Patrick McGrath, project leader at LEGO. "Acsis' overall knowledge and ability to provide a RFID solution with integration to existing systems enabled us to simplify the introduction of RFID into our business processes."

"Acsis is proud to have successfully provided a solution to LEGO," said Steven Selfridge, President and Chief Executive Officer of Acsis. "The Data-Link Enterprise solution, seamlessly integrates with LEGO's automated material handing equipment, devices, and back-end systems to enable ease of integration from all aspects."

The entire solution includes Alien RFID Readers, Rafsec RFID tags, Zebra printers that generate a single RFID enabled shipping label, photo eyes, and light stacks as well as integration to the highly automated material handling environment via the BOSS II operating system. This allows existing systems to manage exception handling where cases are automatically diverted by the sortation system if rework is required when RFID tags are not verified after application.

More information on this implementation can be found in the February 2006 issue of Integrated Solution Magazine or on their website at http://www.integratedsolutionsmag.com/Articles/2006_02/060201.html.
