Redline Achieves TDD Interoperability With Four WiMAX Vendors at WiMAX Forum Plugfest in Beijing

BEIJING --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 9, 2005 --

Redline delivers live interoperability demonstration at the WiMAX Forum Face to Face event

Redline Communications, a leading provider of standards-based broadband wireless equipment, today announced it successfully achieved WiMAX interoperability between its RedMAX WiMAX products and four WiMAX vendors at the WiMAX Forum(TM) public Plugfest in Beijing which took place from October 30 to November 6, 2005. The company is also doing a live demonstration of the WiMAX interoperability, along with multiple vendors at the Forum's Face to Face session this week.

The live interoperability demonstration features voice, video and data communications between Redline's RedMAX products, which incorporate the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 5116 WiMAX modem silicon, and other vendors' TDD-based WiMAX equipment. Delegates and visitors at the event also have the opportunity to participate in online gaming over the live WiMAX network.

"Our successful interoperability trials at Plugfest is a significant milestone leading up to our official WiMAX certification which is expected by the end of the year," said Keith Doucet, Vice President, Marketing and Product Management at Redline Communications. "This achievement, combined with recent International carrier wins for the deployment of our RedMAX equipment, underscores our leadership position in bringing WiMAX products to market."

Telecommunications carries in several major International markets have already chosen WiMAX products from Redline and other vendors to advance wireless communications in their regions. Among these companies is Integrated Telecom Company Ltd. (ITC), a licensed data service provider in Saudi Arabia, that is deploying Redline's RedMAX equipment as part of the (U.S.) $22.2 million first phase of its region-wide broadband network.

WiMAX is a standards-based wireless technology that provides high-throughput broadband connections over long distances. The first phase of WiMAX products can be used for a range of applications, including "last mile" broadband connections, cellular backhaul, and high-speed enterprise connectivity for businesses. As WiMAX evolves, it is expected to deliver both fixed and mobile wireless broadband connectivity.

Redline's RedMAX Family

Redline's WiMAX solutions are designed to operate in a wide range of network designs and deployments, including point-to-point and point-to-multi-point, in urban and rural geographies. The RedMAX carrier class Base Station (AN-100U) delivers voice, video, and prioritized data traffic to the indoor and outdoor RedMAX Subscriber Units, which feature the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 5116 broadband interface. RedMAX products are currently undergoing WiMAX testing at the Cetecom laboratory in Malaga, Spain.
