The state capital ceremony was the largest presentation in a series of statewide events arranged by the California Highway Patrol in honor of the Memorial Chopper. The event drew officers and dignitaries from across the state and nation including Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lt.Gov. Bustamante, Commissioner Mike Brown, the Attorney General Bill Lockyer, and Secretary Sunne Wright McPeak of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.

Hybrid Technologies executives presented the California-produced Chopper following a speech concluding the memorial laying of the wreaths by the families of fallen officers in 2004. The Chopper drew attention from the families and officers as it was driven by a CHP officer onto the capital steps.

Governor Schwarzenegger and Lt Gov. Bustamante were introduced to the Hybrid Chopper and the CHP academy memorial service a day prior to the Capital steps presentation. The lithium chopper drew news crews from across the state and was a key part of the State's official memorial program.

The chopper utilizes a Hybrid Technologies' high performance I-Cel(TM) lithium power system. The speed of the chopper exceeds 80 miles per hour as displayed at ceremonies in Los Angeles, Fresno, and Bakersfield, Reno and Sacramento. The memorial Chopper will be used in demonstration events across the State of California as a highly visible marketing tool for the CHP.

Holly Roseberry stated, "Our partnership with the CHP and the men and women of law enforcement marks an historic moment in our company's history. Our developed technology can not only produce commercial vehicles for public and governmental applications, but we can also produce one-of-a-kind projects such as this incredible machine."

The CHP Memorial Chopper is the first chopper produced by Hybrid Technologies and is the latest high profile project from their Van Nuys California lithium facility.

The board of Hybrid technologies would like to note that May is the official Peace Officers Month in California, and we would like you to join us in honoring those men and women of law enforcement who keep our streets safe.
