The Weather Channel(R) Launches SMS Trivia Around Hurricane Week; Text Trivia Campaign Supports Special Theme Week

VIENNA, Va., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mobile Media Company, the personal broadcaster (http://www.mobilemedia.com/), and The Weather Channel (http://www.weather.com/) today announced the launch of a non-premium, text- messaging trivia promotion to support Hurricane Week on The Weather Channel. The week of special programming runs from June 5-11, 2005, and marks the official start of hurricane season.

Supported by on-air promotion, people can participate in The Weather Channel Hurricane trivia text quiz by sending answers via text message to short code 78676 (STORM) at no additional charge (normal text messaging rates apply).
"In addition to engaging consumers with Hurricane Week, the launch of our text trivia campaign follows our commitment to use all channels, especially mobile, to keep people aware of the importance of preparing for severe weather conditions, including the notorious hurricane season," says Louis Gump, Vice President for Mobile for The Weather Channel Interactive.
Supported by the leading North American wireless carriers, this text trivia promotion paves the way for the impending launch of a host of innovative, mobile information services from The Weather Channel and Mobile Media. The trivia campaign follows on the success of the network's 24-hour weather text alert service (4CAST), which was launched together with Mobile Media in October of 2004.
"We are excited about the launch of The Weather Channel text trivia campaign, and the forthcoming series of advanced mobile information services which will support their mission," says Steinar Svalesen, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Media North America. "The weather is something we can't control, yet it can have a huge impact on our day. These services will provide mobile users the most up-to-the-minute weather alerts so they can be prepared when it counts."
Hurricane Week comprises seven days of special programming that includes a new, hour-long special and twelve of the network's most dramatic Storm Stories episodes. Full programming details can be found at http://www.weather.com/.
