Nayna Networks CTO Dr. Raj Jain Sees Demand Driving 100 Mbps Broadband Over Fiber Into Homes

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nayna Networks, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: NAYN) , a provider of next generation network solutions, today announced that Dr. Raj Jain, Nayna co-founder and chief technology officer, will deliver the opening keynote address at the eleventh International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICAPDS 2005) in Fukuoka, Japan July 20; details are provided below.

In remarks prepared for his keynote speech, Dr. Jain discusses the convergence of exponentially increasing retail broadband demand with accelerating computing systems evolution. "Distributed applications and computing systems consume significant and rapidly growing amounts of bandwidth for communications. The traffic demands of streaming music, peer-to-peer sharing applications, VoIP and online games are already straining local access network capacity and quality control mechanisms."
According to Dr. Jain, "Advances in broadband access including Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-To-The-Apartment Building (FTTA) networks are routinely delivering 20 and 50 Mbps -- with 100 Mbps and even one Gbps not far off. Future growth in multi-processor cores, clusters, distributed data storage schemes, adaptive agents and video on demand will accelerate the traffic strain on access networks. Major metropolitan regions are already experiencing multi-terabit demand. The vision of 100 Mbps to the home is well within sight, and holds enormous repercussions for providers of network, security and communication services and technology."
"The technological challenge facing the access network designers supporting the distributed computing industry is enabling service providers to simultaneously deliver multiple applications within the increasingly stringent performance and latency requirements of the end customer," Dr. Jain concludes.
Dr. Jain's keynote presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20, at 9:00 a.m. at Fukuoka Institute of Technology, Fukuoka, Japan.
Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society and Fukuoka Institute of Technology, the International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems provides an international forum for scientists, engineers and users to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas, and latest research results on all aspects of parallel and distributed systems.
