San Luis Valley HMO Expands Its Use of HealthTrio to Include HealthTrio connect
NASHVILLE, Tenn. & ALAMOSA, Colo. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 31, 2004 -- Health Plan Will Leverage the Flexibility and Integrated Functionality of HealthTrio's Entire Product Suite
HealthTrio(TM), a leading provider of e-health and core business solutions for the managed care industry, and San Luis Valley HMO, a health plan serving members in rural Colorado, today announced that San Luis Valley HMO will offer new online services to its providers, members, employers and brokers through HealthTrio connect, an Internet-based health management system. The health plan will begin implementing the portal solutions immediately.
San Luis Valley HMO installed HealthTrio xpress as its core administrative system in January 2002. Through its use of the HealthTrio system, the health plan has realized many financial and operational benefits. Implementation of HealthTrio connect is the second part of a two-part technology strategy aimed at solidifying the health plan's leadership position in its Southern Colorado marketplace and helping it compete against larger managed care companies in Colorado.
"We believe that technology is the great equalizer when it comes to leveling a competitive playing field, and HealthTrio xpress enables us to strategically and operationally compete with other leading managed care organizations," said Cindy Palmer, CEO of San Luis Valley HMO. "Creating a Web presence with our constituents through HealthTrio connect further strengthens our product offering--allowing us to further differentiate ourselves from our competition, enhance our quality of care and grow our business."
HealthTrio connect enables San Luis Valley HMO's providers, members, employers and brokers to perform HIPAA-compliant, real-time transactions online. Using the HealthTrio connect provider portal, providers perform administrative transactions such as exchanging, modifying and executing claims, referral and eligibility transactions through the single online interface. In addition, these providers will be able to strengthen care management through the use of the HealthTrio Individual Health Record (IHR), a unique, patient-centric multi-platform electronic health record (EHR).
Members use the Internet-based HealthTrio system for self-service administrative functions such as looking up benefit and claim information, requesting ID cards, changing doctors, making demographic changes, accessing educational materials and, perhaps most importantly, improving their health via the patient component of the IHR--a private, secure personal health record (PHR). Using the PHR, members utilize health management tools and services that help them better manage their personal health and wellness, including guidance toward healthy choices such as regularly scheduled wellness visits and properly managed therapy for diseases. Based on each patient's information, HealthTrio connect presents personalized information that leads to better health.
For employers, HealthTrio connect improves employee satisfaction through online enrollment, increases billing accuracy through online premium billing reconciliation and provides a competitive advantage of being able to offer richer benefits to employees.
HealthTrio connect is used by brokers to input employer and census information, reconcile commissions and receive quotes online, as well as to access personalized benefit information about San Luis Valley HMO product offerings.
"More and more health plans are recognizing the benefit of implementing our complete product suite to leverage their core administrative system with an effective Internet-based stakeholder outreach solution," said Ralph A. Korpman, M.D., president and CEO of HealthTrio. "We are excited about having the opportunity to implement HealthTrio connect at San Luis Valley HMO and look forward to delivering the same measurable results they have experienced with HealthTrio xpress."
About HealthTrio
HealthTrio is a leading provider of e-health applications and core business systems for organizations that manage care. Software applications include HealthTrio connect(TM), a rapidly-installed Internet-based communication platform that enables real-time, HIPAA-compliant interactions between health plans, providers, members/patients, employers and brokers. Once members are engaged and make the commitment to accepting responsibility for their personal health, the managed care organization provides them with online access to health management tools, including a personal health record (PHR) while offering providers an electronic health record (EHR). Together, these create the unique HealthTrio Individual Health Record (IHR). It has been shown that HealthTrio connect allows health care organizations to reduce health care costs while improving the health of the populations they serve. The company's comprehensive product offering also includes HealthTrio xpress, a core administrative solution that simplifies the administration of benefit structures, including Consumer Directed Health initiatives. These tools allow health plans to reduce health care costs while improving the health of their member population.
