INCOGEN Commits to Major Sponsorship of The Advancing Practice, Instruction and Innovation through Informatics Conference -APIII 2004-

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Sept. 1, 2004 -- INCOGEN, Inc. announced today a major sponsorship of The Advancing Practice, Instruction and Innovation through Informatics conference (APIII 2004.) The conference, titled Frontiers in Oncology and Pathology Informatics, provides a broad overview of applications of biomedical informatics in pathology and oncology practice, education and research. It will take place October 6 - 8, 2004 in Pittsburgh, PA. INCOGEN will sponsor the entire Bioinformatics Track throughout the conference as a Gold-level sponsor.

In April, INCOGEN received a two-year, $2 Million award from the National Institutes of Health - National Cancer Institute to continue its research program in cancer diagnostics. The research program involves a close collaboration with scientists from the College of William and Mary and clinical researchers from the Eastern Virginia Medical School.

"Biomedical informatics is a key component toward achieving the goals outlined in NIH's roadmap of significantly reducing the death and suffering due to cancer by the next decade," said founder and CEO, Dr. Maciek Sasinowski. "We are delighted to support this conference and the ongoing efforts of groups such as caBIG and caProteo, which are critical in this important fight."

The objectives of the Bioinformatics Track are to provide a focused study of advances and challenges in clinical-genomic/proteomic data integration, a pressing area in the bioinformatics of genomic-proteomic profiling.
