CMSsoftware Launches Microsoft.net-Based ERP Solution; Fully Integrated Solution for Manufacturers and Distributors Enhances Supply Chain Collaboration

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 20, 2004 -- CMSsoftware, Inc. - longtime provider of vertically integrated ERP solutions for manufacturers and distributors operating on the IBM eServer i5 - announces the immediate availability of CMSm5. CMSm5 is the culmination of a 4-year, multi-million dollar effort to provide the Microsoft.net community with the first ERP solution conceived and developed specifically to exploit the capabilities of that framework.

"We had no interest in porting our existing IBM-based solution onto the .net framework," says Steve Hoult, CMS' VP of mSeries Development. "The IBM i5 heritage is unique, and over twenty years we've developed and continue to evolve the ideal ERP solution for that platform. But the .net framework opens entirely new avenues of opportunity for our developers. We've taken the expertise we've gained over the past twenty years of developing ERP software for our niche markets and everything we know about the .net platform, and we've written a unique solution from the ground up. One hundred percent of the CMSm5 code is written in C# and DB.net. This is a pure .net solution."

Brian Angle, CMS' VP of Sales and Marketing points out that, regardless of platform, the business demands faced by small and midsize companies, and their desire for an integrated ERP solution that meets those challenges are nearly universal. "These companies are looking for solutions that not only enable them to better manage their business, but do it with a low total cost of ownership. With a fully integrated solution, like CMSm5, there is much less need to buy, integrate or maintain 3rd party solutions; therefore, you have fewer in-house staff requirements and a single software provider to hold accountable. CMS provides all implementation, education, maintenance and support."

CMSm5's integrated functionality includes, Distribution Management, EDI, Order Processing, Configuration Management, Purchasing and Procurement, Production Control, Scheduling/Production Reporting, and Bar-Code Labeling and Serialization. Says Angle, "Versatility and the ability to react to changes in their customers' businesses are critical for manufacturers and distributors. CMSm5's out-of-the-box capabilities allow them to seamlessly collaborate with their customers and their vendors. Any change in their customer's business will immediately be felt throughout their enterprise and downstream at their vendors' facilities."
