Mazu Networks Adds Two Industry Veterans to Executive Team as Rapid Adoption of Company's Behavioral IPS Solutions Continues

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 19, 2004 --

Don Casey joins as Board Chairman and CEO; Paul Brady joins as president and COO. Seasoned executives to scale Mazu's business and grow strategic relationships

Mazu Networks, a leading provider of behavioral intrusion prevention solutions (IPS), today announced that it has added two seasoned executives to the Company's management team to steer and manage Mazu's rapid growth. Donald P. Casey, who joins as Chairman and chief executive officer, will be responsible for setting Mazu's strategic vision and developing corporate relationships to help expand Mazu's position as the leading provider of behavioral IPS to the enterprise. The second key addition is Paul Brady, who has joined Mazu as President and COO. Mr. Brady will be responsible for executing Mazu's growth strategies while managing all of the Company's day-to-day operations.

"Mazu's enterprise-grade solutions provide corporations with the best protection against worms, DoS attacks and insider threats," said Casey. "The behavioral IPS category has been experiencing tremendous growth as companies have turned their attention to solving these problems. Mazu claimed an early lead in this market, and now counts as its customers the market leaders in retail banking, investment banking, insurance, money management and a wide range of enterprises with significant supply chain environments. My priority is to help Mazu leverage this success through the formation of new strategic partnerships, aggressive channel development, and a range of other activities in order to bring this terrific and much-needed technology to the larger marketplace."

"I look forward to working with Don and the rest of the Mazu team to further ramp Mazu's already impressive market traction," said Brady. "With internal network security still a major concern in corporate and government organizations, it's clear that our behavioral solutions can solve a significant gap in the security landscape. My goal now is to put the infrastructure in place to best manage the exponential growth Mazu is experiencing."

To his new position at Mazu, Mr. Casey brings an impressive track record at some of the world's largest hardware and software companies. He spent 21 years with IBM, where he held several senior management positions including vice president of communication, hardware and software. After leaving IBM, he joined Apple Computer as vice president of networking and multimedia. Following Apple, Mr. Casey joined Lotus Development Corporation as vice president of the spreadsheet division. In 1991, he became president and chief technology officer for Wang Global. There he led the turnaround effort that remade Wang into a software and services company with $3.5 billion in annual revenues. Following the sale of Wang Global for $4 billion to Getronics, Mr. Casey joined Exodus Communications as president and Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Brady has more than 20 years of experience in the general management and strategic development of high-growth technology companies. Most recently, he was president and COO of Guardent, where he was focused on profitable revenue growth. He led Guardent's sales, managed security services, professional services, product management, R&D, and risk management teams. He also played a key role in Guardent's acquisition by VeriSign in February 2004 for $140 million. Prior to Guardent, Mr. Brady was senior vice president at Exodus Communications, where he managed $400 million in revenue, was responsible for nine data centers, and had a central role in making Exodus a worldwide leader in hosting and managed services. Prior to Exodus, Mr. Brady was co-founder and president of Cohesive Technologies Solutions, which was acquired by Exodus in June of 1999 for $100 million. Earlier in his career, Brady was founder and CEO of Business Technologies Consulting Group, and prior to that, was a consultant with Computer Science Corp.'s financial services technology practice. Mr. Brady holds a BA degree in computer science from Hofstra and an MBA from MIT's Sloan Business School.
