UBS Hosts Ninth Annual Global Communications Conference

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 16, 2004 -- UBS's Ninth Annual Global Communications Conference begins today at the Grand Hyatt in New York City and runs through Wednesday, November 18. The conference will feature presentations from chief executive officers and senior managers representing more than 50 leading communications services and technology companies from North America, Europe, Asia and South America.

The global communications industry appears to have begun a road to recovery in 2004 after three difficult years. The outlook for the next few years, however, still remains unclear given regulatory uncertainty, economic growth, consolidation and adoption rates of new technologies and whether these new technologies will increase the addressable market or cannibalize existing revenue streams. The UBS Communications Conference will provide investors with a unique forum to better assess the outlook for the communications industry.

"The entire communications food-chain - service providers, equipment suppliers, component manufacturers and contract manufacturers - will be presenting at the UBS Communications Conference," said UBS Wireline Equipment and Data Networking analyst Nikos Theodosopoulos. "Its unique format will help investors better understand the changing regulatory environment and the emergence of industry-changing services and technologies including WiMax, 3G, VoIP, IPTV, and Fiber to the Premise and Node."

Keynote presentations and panels will include:

-- Edward Whitacre Jr., Chairman & CEO, SBC Communications

-- Ed Zander, Chief Executive Officer, Motorola Inc.

-- Tim Donahue, Chief Executive Officer, Nextel Communications Inc.

-- Gary Forsee, Chief Executive Officer, Sprint FON/PCS

-- Michael Capellas, Chief Executive Officer, MCI

-- Panel Discussion: The Future of Wireless - 3G and Beyond

-- Panel Discussion: ILEC/Cable Video
