Solving the RFID Puzzle: CompTIA Cybercast Will Explain Why Physics are Key

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 1, 2004 -- CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, this week will hold the second of four Web-based cybercasts on challenges, opportunities and strategies related to radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

"How Physics Can Solve Your RFID Puzzle," a comprehensive discussion on using physics to make RFID work in real world settings, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. CT on Thursday, November 4. The RFID cybercast is free for CompTIA members and $45(US) for non-members.

In this session, Patrick Sweeney, president and chief executive officer of ODIN technologies, the leader in the physics of RFID testing, will explain what organizations really need to know about RFID before they deploy it. Sweeney, author of the forthcoming book RFID for Dummies and a frequent speaker on RFID, is noted for his ability to make the technology understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Too often poor RFID performance is blamed on immature equipment or the common misconception that the physics of RF present the biggest barrier to an effective solution. In this program, Sweeney will explain why there is science behind each of these challenges; and, far from being a barrier, the physics of RFID are key to designing and implementing an optimal solution. -0- *T Future programs in the CompTIA RFID cybercast series include: -- November 11 - "Five Critical Steps for a Successful RFID Deployment" ODIN technologies' Patrick J. Sweeney II will discuss common pitfalls and success factors in RFID projects. -- November 18 - "Getting Ready for RFID: The User Speaks" Richard Morrissey, director, e-business strategy for American Power Conversion, a leading provider of global, end-to-end solutions for real-time infrastructure, will discuss his experience in readying APC for RFID. *T
